One more Chuggington update

During my time on Chuggington as an animation director, I was also given the opportunity to do some design work for the show. In the Badge Quest Share the Load, that is now available on BBC iPlayer, the trainees have to put up posters for Action Chugger's new movie "Light-year Chugger"

Happy New Year everyone! It's been almost two years now since I finished my film Laika and I've decided that it is time to make another short film so that is my New Year's Resolution.

I've started writing the script and developing visuals for an animated musical set in the English Countryside

I had forgotten how difficult and draining the "creative" process can be, especially the writing...

The project has already attracted some attention as it has been selected for the

Nisi Masa-European Short Pitch 2012!

As part of the ESP I've attended a script writing residency in the fairy-tale like city of Luxembourg and In March I will be presenting Electrifying Love at a co-production forum in Maribor, Slovenia.

With a bit of luck and some hard work I will begin the production this spring!

I have recently started a new theme of illustrations, this time its portraits of birds. I usually find a picture/photo of a bird that I like and then use it as a starting point to sketch the rough shape.

Materials used-Watercolours, Ink and AquaMonolith.

I have recently rediscover the AquaMonolith pencils, they give such a great vibrant colours when mixed with water and they are great for details.

A couple of weeks ago I started making earrings again, here are some of them.

FOXES

I bought the mould from The clay shop on Etsy.

They are made from Fimo modelling clay, coloured with acrylic paint and varnished.

RUSSIAN HORSES

Made from Fimo and coloured with acrylic paint.

BEAGLE

These were made as a present for my mum's birthday, the prototype was our 12 year old beagle.

They are also made of Fimo clay and coloured with acrylic paints.

"What are you reading?" Bookmark

This tiny bookmark was first drawn on paper and then coloured in Illustrator.

It folds on top of the pages and has space to write a list of favourite books.

I am in the process of creating more of these with other characters and might even try to

sell some on Etsy if they become popular.

Damned a new film by Richard Phelan

After a long year of hard work Richard Phelan's new film Damned is finally finished!

I've helped out with the colour script and will upload it here very soon.

The film is beautiful animated, with fantastic art direction and character designs by R.Phelan.

It has the flair of traditional cartoons and a very touching storyline. Not to be missed!

48hours 3D Jam competition

Elena Pomares and myself were selected to take part in the 48hours 3D Jam competition during the Stuttgart International Animation festival. The brief was to create a short film in 48 hours using the festivals mascot. We didn't won but it was loads of fun and this is the result of our work.

To promote my Grad Film about the first dog in space, I created

a package that consist out of business cards, post cards, badges and of course the

DVD and the DVD Booklet.

Business Cards were printed by Moo and I cut them out my self.

I really like the paper quality that the Moo B.Cards have.

Post Cards and Badges are by Awesome Merchandise.

I can’t recommend then enouth for the quality of their badges,

a friend of mine washed one in his jeans at 40C for two hours

and the badge didn’t even have one scratch afterwards.

The DVD booklets were printed by The Design & Print Partnership.

They send me a sample first and the printing was super quick and really good quality as well.

A humorous take on the effects of OCD in the everyday life situations of a young woman.

This was one of my first year films at the National Film and Television school and it was screened last week at the International Short Film Festival Hamburg as part of the
3 minute quickie competition "Human Error".
It was animated in After Effects using scanned paper, fabrics and pottery.
